Navigation in shared spaces
نویسنده
چکیده
Designing navigable electronic environments usually involve looking at navigation from various perspectives. This paper describes some of the views that have to be considered when designing for navigation in electronic worlds with special reference made to shared spaces. Current ongoing projects involving issues related to navigation in shared electronic spaces are also briefly described. These include the development of a tool for navigating large scale inhabited virtual worlds, a fuzzy based model of interaction and a shared desktop environment using the auditory medium to support peripheral awareness.

designing and implementing a 3D indoor navigation web application
During the recent years, the need arises for indoor navigation systems for guidance of a client in natural hazards and fire, due to the fact that human settlements have been complicating. This research paper aims to design and implement a visual indoor navigation web application. The designed system processes CityGML data model automatically and then, extracts semantic, topologic and geometric...
متن کاملSpaces, Places, Landscapes and Views: experiential design of shared information spaces
This chapter focuses on the World Wide Web (Web) as a provider of shared information landscapes. It reviews our work to design 3D spaces for information navigation and social interaction, and suggests an approach to such design based on an experiential theory of meaning. The increasing use of virtual 3D space in information environments is noted, and Personal Spaces are contrasted with Public P...
متن کاملViewing Robot Navigation in Human Environment as a Cooperative Activity
We claim that navigation in human environments can be viewed as cooperative activity especially in constrained situations. Humans concurrently aid and comply with each other while moving in a shared space. Cooperation helps pedestrians to efficiently reach their own goals and respect conventions such as the personal space of others. To meet human comparable efficiency, a robot needs to predict ...
متن کاملEnhancing Semantic and Social Navigation in Information-Rich Virtual Worlds
Virtual Worlds are a popular medium for communication and collaboration in 3D and they are being utilized as shared information spaces in various application areas, such as education, culture and entertainment. Being presented as 3D visualization spaces they adopt a spatial model of navigation, in which information artifacts have a certain position in space and users can access them through the...
متن کاملEnhancing Shared Understanding in Collaborative Online
This study explores the emerging phenomenon of collaborative online shopping by comparing three navigation support designs: separate navigation with location cue, split screen navigation, and tightly-bonded shared navigation. The impacts of the three navigation support designs on collaborative customers’ actual and perceived shared understanding were investigated in a laboratory experiment. The...
